苦楝舅是福建廈門一个幹部家庭里的幼囝，排行第五。<br />

一九七空年，十二歲的苦楝舅被選入福建省羽球集訓隊。鋪年二月，伊接著北京體育學院集訓的通知，共北京接受系統的訓練。<br />
一九七四年，十六歲的苦楝舅佇全國少年羽球比賽中，出任福建省隊的第一單拍，助福建省奪得團體冠軍；而伊亦挽落了查埔單打佮雙打（佮林江利合作）的桂冠。一九八Ｏ年，伊閣佇全國比賽中奪得單打佮雙打兩項冠軍。<br />

苦楝舅十七歲便代表中國國家羽球隊比賽，是國家隊佇咧七十、八空年代的主力成員，是中國佇一九八二年頭擺贏著湯姆斯盃冠軍的成員之一。一九八三年，苦楝舅贏著全英羽球公開賽男單冠軍，成做中國第一个贏著全英賽的男單選手。<br />

一九八六年，苦楝舅正式退役，較早時代佇中國、韓國佮台灣擔任教練，培養過董誌、方銖賢、陳鋒等名將。<br />

苦楝舅佇台灣蹛一六年矣，取得中華民國國籍，期間捌受著土地銀行羽球隊和臺北市立體育學院。<br />

二空一空年三月，苦楝舅出任新加坡國家羽球隊單拍總教練。和到二空一三年底，新加坡羽球隊佇東南亞運動會成績袂濟，干焦得著一面女雙銅牌；新加坡羽球總會佇咧二空一四年初，進前一年和伊解除合同。其後，苦楝舅受邀請著香港羽球代表隊執教，助男單球手備戰世界錦標賽佮亞運會。<br />
