美國內戰前的時期

Antebellum是一个拉丁語單字，意思為戰爭進前（_ ante _ 意指「較早」；_ bellum _ 意指「戰爭」）。 佇美國歷史佮史學史內底，這單字一般是講美國內戰較早，一段地方本位主義沓沓仔增長的時代，閣佇英語內底嘛是閣講「pre-Civil War」。 一般認為這段期間始佇一八五四年會當薩斯-內布拉斯加法（Kansas-Nebraska Act）通過，有當時仔閣較前捒到一八一二年。現此時有當時仔伊嘛叫做舊南方（Old South）。 相對來講，佇內戰結束了後的時期稱作戰後（postbellum）抑是重建（reconstruction）時期。
